Ravi Ashwan took 4-8 as India pounded Sri Lanka by nine wickets in their arrangement choosing T20 confrontation in Visakhapatnam.
Sri Lanka lost two wickets in the first over to Ashwin, and after that gave in to only 82 hard and fast, only two men achieving twofold figures.
Shikhar Dhawan hit an unbeaten 46 in the answer as India cavorted home with 37 balls to extra to win the arrangement 2-1.
Ashwin's first over put Sri Lanka - the ruling T20 title holders - on the back foot.
They lost Niroshan Dickwalla, baffled by MS Dhoni, and Tillakaratne Dilshan, both for one, with spinner Ashwin going ahead to give back the astonishing figures of 4-8 from his four overs.
