Skipper Yannick Noah affirmed Monfils as one of his five players for the World Group first-round match in March which will be played in Guadeloupe, one of the nation's abroad offices in the Caribbean.
Monfils, whose father was conceived in Guadeloupe, said it was superfluous for France to make players go on a 13,000-kilometer round excursion in a bustling part of the season.
